The district’s “snack pack” program provides weekend meals to food-insecure students.
December 31, 2019
Cartwright School District in Phoenix is repackaging leftover food to provide meals for students over the weekend, AZ Family reports.
Each week, unserved food left on the line is repackaged into “snack packs” for food-insecure students to take home on Friday. Cafeteria staff say the program also helps eliminate waste.
The snack packs are currently available at two schools in the district.
