School district debuts nutrition bus

Chesapeake Public Schools students can hop aboard for lessons on healthy eating.

Students in Chesapeake Public Schools have a chance this fall to hop aboard the Nutrition Express for lessons on healthy eating, reports PilotOnline.com.

An old school bus was remodeled into the mobile classroom, which travels from school to school, and teaches children how to understand different sources of sugar and read food labels.

"We are getting more and more obese as a nation," said Jennifer McDermott, the school division's nutrition and wellness educator, and registered dietitian.
