Cafeteria staff at Burke County Public Schools have received a free turkey for Thanksgiving this year, The News Herald reports

The turkeys were purchased by the district’s foodservice provider, Chartwells K-12, and given out to all cafeteria staff.

The district’s director of dining said the turkeys are just another way to tell employees thank you for their hard work. The nutrition team has served over 750,000 meals since the start of the pandemic.
