A local restaurant has pledged to help Framingham (MA) Public Schools reduce its unpaid lunch tab, reports the MetroWest Daily News. The district is owed approximately $40,000 for lunches it has served but which were not paid for either by the student or by public reimbursement.

La Cantina Italiana owner Lee Mencoboni's plan is to use proceeds from each Tuesday's sales to fund an account that can be used to purchase school meals by students whose families can prove financial hardship but who don't qualify for free/reduced meals under the National School Lunch Program.
