Report: Ohio Schools Could Save $1 Billion Through Sharing Services

Ohio's 614 school districts could save up to a billion dollars by sharing non-classroom services like foodservice according to one consulting group that has studied the state, reports cincinnati.com. Ohio Education Matters, a part of the Knowledgeworks education consulting group, says that about 35 percent of Ohio districts' spending goes toward non-educational services, which could be made considerably more efficient through sharing of resources and personnel and cooperative purchasing.

Among examples of successful cooperation cited are the Milford Schools arrangement to manage and supply foodservice's to three other districts and three private schools in addition to its own 23 buildings.
