New York AG Settles Another School Food Rebate Charges

New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has announced a $1.6 million settlement with Whitsons Culinary Group over charges that the company illegally failed to pass on rebates it had received from vendors for product purchased for the school feeding programs it manages, reports the New York Daily News.

Sodexo had settled a similar claim last year, and New York's assistant attorney general had warned the industry this past May at the School Nutrition Association (SNA) Legislative Action Conference that additional settlements on the issue of invoice rebating by contractors doing business in New York State would be forthcoming.
