A new law in Hawaii will require that public schools in the state source local food for school meals.
Governor David Ige signed HB767 into law earlier this month, which mandates that public schools throughout the state source at least 30% of school meal ingredients from local producers by 2030.
The law also moves the state’s farm-to-school program from the Department of Agriculture to the Department of Education.
