N.Y. school district partners with farm for lunch menu

Hoosick Falls Central School District’s cafeteria manager and students take a few trips a week to handpick produce, like tomatoes and sweet corn, at Moses Farm.

Tomatoes and sweet corn are two of the most well-known items on Hoosick Falls Central School District’s lunch menu since the district partnered with Moses Farm, according to News 10.

For the past five years, the district’s cafeteria manager, Heather Brooks, has collaborated with the local farm—handpicking produce several times a week—because she feels it’s important to gives students a healthy lunch, reports News 10.

Teams of students help pick the produce as well, which is incorporated into the lunch menu.
