Parents complain that students are still hungry after lunch.
December 5, 2012
Dec. 5—Members of the Pierce City (Mo.) R-6 Board of Education discussed several complaints received over food service portion sizes during its regular meeting last month.
Individual board members had received parental complaints that their children are hungry even after eating breakfast or lunch.
"With the new Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010, we're seeing portion sizes go down and prices going up," said Superintendent Dr. Aaron Cornman, "but if we change our standards, we lose six cents per tray."
