Los Angeles Unified School District says it will continue to provide students meals regardless of whether a teacher strike occurs next week.

The district has been reaching out to substitute teachers, parent volunteers and local law enforcement in an effort to hold school as planned. As of now, the district’s cafeteria workers have not planned to go on strike.

“Food service will not change and each school will continue to provide regularly scheduled meals,” says Public Information Officer Ellen Morgan.

For the past couple of weeks, teachers throughout the district have been in negotiations with school officials over raises and smaller class sizes.

Teachers were originally planning to strike Thursday but have postponed the strike until Monday “due to a legal technicality,” according to the Los Angeles Times
