School foodservice directors from the largest districts in the country are planning to gather for a two day meeting during the annual National Frozen and Refrigerated Foods Association (NFRA) meeting in San Antonio on October 15-16. The networking group, calling itself the School Foodservice Consortium, is designed as a forum for them to discuss the unique business challenges that large districts face in connection with running their food and nutrition programs.
According to Mary Kate Harrison, general manager of student nutrition for the Hillsborough County (FL) School district and a former NFRA board member, the group will explore issues related to benchmarking and key performance indicators among other topics.
