High School As College

One could easily mistake Union High School for a college, especially its new, Collegiate Academy wing, with its 37 classrooms, student union, career center and 300-seat meeting room. The expansive open areas on multiple levels provide students with comfortable study and social spaces and there are even flat screen TVs broadcasting news, just as one would see in a college lounge.

Another collegiate touch is the all-day Cyber Cafe, which also stays open in the evening when the Collegiate Academy hosts college classes in conjunction with Tulsa Community College. It offers students a concurrent enrollment program that lets them earn high school and college credits at the same time virtually tuition free. It also provides students exposure to college and career opportunities through partnerships with other area universities and the Tulsa Technology Center.

In addition to the new Collegiate Academy, the sprawling Union High School complex also contains a performing arts center, a multi-purpose activities center (including a 5,600-seat arena) and a 9,000-seat football stadium.
