Participation in a Healthy Food Certification program caused vending sales in the Region 13 school district in Durham, CT, to plunge from $15,000 to $5,000, reports the Middletown Press. The figures were reported to the board of education by Dining Services Director Mark Basil, who noted that the certification requirements have constrained the options available through vending machines, even limiting granola bar sales.
