Do you have a great K-12 menu item that features brown rice? The healthful pantry staple is helping schools meet requirements and also to create menu items that feature veggies, fruits, lean proteins and global flavors. (Brown rice is also gluten-free.)

USA Rice's "Healthy Brown Rice on the Menu Contest" is open now until Friday, Nov. 15, 2013. Entries should highlight brown rice's versatility in multiple menu applications including breakfast, salads, stir-fries, hot entrées and casseroles.

Winners will get the spotlight on USA Rice's foodservice website and will also receive paid SNA 2014 conference registrations, rice cookers and a supply of brown rice for the school from Uncle Ben's, Riceland Farms and Producers Rice Mill.

Go to the USA Rice Federation's website to enter and for more info. Read more about past entries here.
