Gwinnett County Public Schools, located just outside of Atlanta, has partnered with a local nonprofit to set up a compost program, The Gwinnett Daily Post reports.

The district worked with Food Well Alliance to establish the program at two of its schools this past spring. Through the program, students have been learning about food waste and how composting can help combat it.

Compost from the program is used in the school gardens, which grow produce for families in the community.
