The Detroit Public Schools may lose funding for its preschool food program following a state Dept. of Education investigation, reports the Detroit Free Press. The DOE review of six sites this past spring, and 16 sites last fall, found that the district was "seriously deficient" in administering the Child and Adult Care Food Program for providing meals to preschoolers. Detroit Schools, which received over $600,000 from the program last year, must submit a corrective action plan or risk losing the funding for up to seven years.
