Columbus (OH) City Schools is trying to boost participation levels with the help of new nutrition services provider Sodexo, reports the Columbus Dispatch. However, while lunch conts have increased by about 40,000 a month, which translates to a four percent participation increase to 74 percent, breakfast participation has stalled at around 45 percent. To increase that number, Sodexo is adding grab and go breakfast stations in 11 elementary school buildings and sending its chefs to school sites to put on demonstrations. One elementary school is using the program to try and increase breakfast counts by promising a chef visit complete with waffle bar to the classroom that gets the most children to eat breakfast at school.
