Chartwells is taking over management of the Gary (IN) Community Schools' breakfast and lunch program from Sodexho, reports the Gary Post-Tribune. Sodexo had taken over the formerly self-operated program last fall but has been unable to keep it from losing money given fixed labor costs combined with shrinking enrollment.

In its proposal, Chartwells projected a loss of around $65,000, which it is willing to cover, with the district being responsible for anything over that. Sodexo’s proposal forecast losses as great as $727,000. Revenues are expected to be around $5.7 million.
