Chartwells to Service Beverly Hills Schools

Beverly Hills USD has decided to contract out its school dining operations to Chartwells, reports the Beverly Hills Patch. The district had been losing "hundreds of thousands of dollars" in its foodservice program over the last two years. Terminating the meal service was not an option because of a federal requirement to provide school meals to students qualifying for free/reduced meals, even though they constitute only about six percent of the student population.
