The one-acre Shippensburg University farm has produced more than 600 pounds of organic produce for the school's dining services, as well a nearby public middle school and a community outreach organization, reports Chambersburg Public Opinion. The farm, which was started in 2012, provides students with hands-on learning about organic agricultural practices and offers the campus as well as the larger community an example of sustainable farming. Its crops include tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, swiss chard, squash, kale, pumpkin, squash, garlic and onions.
