BOULDER, Colo.—The Boulder Valley School District recently asked parents for feedback to help with formulating next year's school lunch menu, getting mixed results from online surveys.

The same dishes that made the top "keeper" list for some parents made the "get rid of" list for others. The survey also showed less support than expected for gluten-free items, though there was strong support for vegetarian options.

"What it really shows is there's tremendous diversity within our families," said Ann Cooper, Boulder Valley's food services director.
