In California, supper is being served to students at almost 200 schools, reports EdSource. The participating districts are taking advantage of a clause in the 2010 Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act that allows after school programs to get federal funding for supper at the same rate provided for free and reduced prices school lunches as long as the after school program has an educational component and at least half the students qualify for subsidized meals.
