This Friday marks the annual return of School Lunch Hero Day, and school districts across the country are taking time this week to recognize their nutrition teams for all that they do.

Here’s how four districts are celebrating.

Some friendly competition

Dallas Independent School District is highlighting its cafeteria workers through a district-wide competition. Students and parents can go to the district’s website and vote for their favorite school cafeteria team. The winning team will receive a prize.

Social media shoutouts

Orange County Public Schools in Orlando is turning School Lunch Hero Day into a weeklong event by posting fun facts and other information about its school nutrition managers on social media.

Serving sweet treats

Centralia School District in Buena Park, Calif., kicked off its multi-day celebration by providing treats from a local bakery to cafeteria staff.

Encouraging the community to say thanks

The team at Fulton County School District in Atlanta is encouraging members of the community to send school nutrition staff thank-you notes, videos and more.
