Two hospitals in Torrance, CA, both recently launched patient room service programs, reports the Daily Breeze. Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center unveiled its room service program in early April while Torrance Memorial Medical Center launched a year ago. Both institutions say the new approach hasn't been a big financial hit as Providence had to increase staffing for its call center to accommodate three daily meals for its some 220 patients. Fortunately, the upgraded equipment was donated. Torrance Medical says it stays financially sound in part by getting good pricing on core meat and dairy menu items.
