Maine hospital promotes hands-on food education with Food Revolution Day

Students at a local school will learn how to make vegetarian tamales and later showcase the dishes they helped create.

Mount Desert Island Hospital will help lead a series of events aimed at increasing local students’ food knowledge, coinciding with Food Revolution Day on May 20.

On the day of action, which was created by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, the Bar Harbor, Maine, hospital will partner with a local restaurant to teach students how to make their own vegetarian tamales in the school's cafeteria, reports The Mount Desert Islander.

Students will also participate in an evening reception to will showcase the dishes they helped create.
