The Hennepin County (MN) Medical Center recently started a rooftop organic garden funded by a Minneapolis Climate Change Grant, reports local news station KSTP. The purpose of the garden at busy downtown Level One Trauma Center is to provide fresh ingredients for the meals served at the hospital to both patients and staff, and also to encourage staff and visitors to plant similar gardens at home. Among the plants being cultivated are specialty herbs used in authentic Hmong dishes. Minneapolis has a sizeable Hmong population, an ethnic group hailing from Southeast Asia.
