Dignity Health Sierra Highland Memorial Hospital in Grass Valley, Calif., has partnered with local nonprofit Sierra Harvest to build a garden on its campus, The Union reports

The garden will be developed over time in different phases. The first phase includes preparing the site, constructing the fencing, implementing irrigation and building the garden boxes to be ready to plant for the fall season.

The garden will serve as a place for patients to learn about fresh produce and how to grow it. Produce from the garden will also be shared with the hospital’s cafeteria.

In the future, hospital officials would like to construct an event space in the garden to be used for wellness classes, education programs and receptions for the hospital’s foundation.
