HSS’s Food & Nutrition Division announced a new leader in 2014 as Michael Van Tolliver joined the unit, succeeding longtime president Rick Abele, who transitioned to a new role as senior vice president of Enterprise Solutions.
 
Also in 2014, HSS completed several large kitchen and retail renovation projects to produce contemporary streamlined designs and increased revenue for clients.  It also continued to expand retail options with new recipes and concepts, as well as world culinary theme promotions. A low-sodium component was added to the Well Being program and whole grain offerings were increased in each retail venue.

HSS also added several schools and renewed existing schools in its partnership with Veggie U, a not-for-profit that helps children understand sustainable agriculture and healthy food choices.
