The Sioux Falls (SD) School district is piloting a morning healthy snacks program this fall at its high school sites that offers subsidized healthy items to eliminate the "healthy food is expensive" excuse for not eating right," reports the Argus Leader. The offerings, available from carts in the cafeterias and on the commons areas, will include items like yogurt, granola and protein bars, fruit, healthy cereals and select dairy products like string cheese at highly subsidized a la carte prices thanks to a grant from South Dakota Health  & Wellness and additional funding from the district's own nutrition services department. The carts are courtesy of the Midwest Dairy Council.
