Wyoming has raised just under $99,500 to forgive school lunch debt in the state, New Canaan Advertiser reports.

The fundraising effort was coordinated by Wyoming First Lady Jennie Gordon and others.

Over 3,000 children will have meal debt forgiven as a result. The money raised covers debts incurred before COVID-19.

Throughout the pandemic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has extended multiple waivers that allow schools to offer students universal free meals.
