When implementing a nutrition program for patients with Inflammatory Bowl Disease, it’s important to understand the nutritional guidance for patients since their diets are heavily restricted, according to Dr. Peter Higgins from the University of Michigan Health System.

Before a presentation at the 2015 Advances in Inflammatory Bowl Diseases (AIBD) meeting in Orlando, Florida, Dr. Higgins said a key consideration is not restricting patients’ diets in anyway that would lead to low iron or Vitamin B, reports hcplive.com.

He also noted not to restrict patients’ calories or proteins as well.
