UMass Dining Services under fire for being ‘too good’

Officials say local restaurateurs are not happy with student dollars staying on campus.

Though the University of Massachusetts at Amherst is lauded for having an award-winning foodservice program, local restaurateurs aren’t happy about the university’s success, reports wwlp.com.

Officials say some off-campus operators are uphappy with students staying on campus because it takes away business from them.

“Even our vendors who we work with, they get complaints from the restaurants that students are staying on campus,” Dianne Sutherland, a registered dietitian with the university’s dining services, told the website.
