Only 3% of customers paid with cash.

April 9—At the University of Washington, Seattle, dining services has stopped accepting cash as a form of payment.
The change comes as a result of an apparent theft of more than $4,000 from a cafeteria's kitchen safe during the first week of March. The department decided to eliminate cash as a way to deter theft. University spokesman David Rey said going cashless was relatively easy for the department because only 3% of those who eat with the department pay with cash.
