Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey has filed a supplemental budget that includes funding to continue offering universal free meals for the rest of the current school year.

The state offers universal free meals to students for now; however, funding for the meals is set to run out in March. The budget includes $65 million to keep the free meals in place through the end of the school year.

A bill was also introduced earlier this month in the Massachusetts House that would make universal free meals a permanent fixture in the state.
