Developing a hotel-like foodservice program for a healthcare facility, one of two under her supervision, earned Lisa Poggas the selection by FoodService Director magazine as FSD of the Year.

A registered dietitian, Poggas is director of nutrition and environmental services at Parker Adventist Hospital, in Parker, Colo., and director of nutrition at Castle Rock Adventist Hospital, in Castle Rock, Colo.

Poggas’ selection was announced during a gala banquet at FoodService Director’s MenuDirections 2015 conference, in Memphis, Tenn. She was chosen from among the past year’s 12 FSDs of the Month by the magazine’s editorial team and advisory board.

“I am stunned,” Poggas said. “Hearing all of the other accomplishments of the other FSDs of the Month, I am truly honored. Thank you.”

Poggas, who manages a combined budget of nearly $5 million, was recognized for her work at Castle Rock, a new facility where she has created a hotel-like model that features room service, a 90-seat restaurant that has become a local destination and generates as much as $100,000 a month, and a kitchen where food for patients and restaurant guests come off the same line.

She was honored as FSD of the Month in September 2014.
