NYU under fire for Black History Month meal
Students criticized the menu items as being racially insensitive.

New York University is under fire for serving a Black History Month meal that students say was racially insensitive, Washington Square News reports.
Ribs, collard greens, watermelon-flavored water and Kool-Aid were some of the offerings served to students earlier this week at one of the school’s dining halls in celebration of Black History Month. The meal was immediately criticized by students.
Aramark, the school’s foodservice vendor, has since issued an apology and is looking into how the menu items were chosen. The foodservice provider says it has also suspended the dining hall's manager and that staff will go through mandatory sensitivity training.
A similar incident happened at Loyola University Chicago earlier this month, when Aramark served stereotypical cuisine for Black History Month.
