May 29—The Multicultural Foodservice and Hospitality Alliance (MFHA) announced that Tony Mitchell, chief financial officer of Morrison Management Specialists, will be the new chair of the MFHA board. The announcement was made at a reception during the National Restaurant Show in Chicago. In his speech at the reception, Mitchell spoke about the importance of diversity, according to a press release.

“Being diverse is not simply a program, department or an initiative, but a vital part of the fabric of the organization,” Mitchell said. “Diverse and inclusive organizations are simply more creative, which is vital in responding to the current state of the economy.”

Mitchell replaces Terrian Barnes, global diversity and inclusion officer of Yum! Brands, Inc., who had been on the board since 1998 and served as chair since 2007.
