A male student at Ohio-based Columbus City Schools says a cafeteria worker refused to serve him lunch because he was wearing a cheerleading bow, reports fox11online.com.

The student, Matthew Gabbert, is captain of West High School’s cheerleading team and says all cheerleaders wear bows inside the school. Students showed their support for Gabbert the next day by wearing bows and creating the hashtag #BoysForBows.

“She was like, ‘You can't wear the bow in here because you're not a girl,’” Gabbert told the website.

Officials say the district does not tolerate discrimination and that the cafeteria worker has been assigned to a new location where she cannot interact with students until the investigation is completed.
