Lunch shaming bill moves forward in Iowa

Joining the growing number of states tackling lunch shaming with legislation, Iowa lawmakers this week passed a bill that would disallow a number of behaviors toward students whose families are behind on school meal payments, WKBT-TV reports.

Schools would no longer be able to pitch meals that were given to students who owe funds, nor identify those students in front of others, per the bill.

The bill, which passed unanimously, is now headed to Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds.
