Los Angeles Unified School District is expanding its vegan lunch pilot to an additional 35 schools due to positive feedback from students, a spokesperson for the district says.

Starting in January, seven new schools will begin offering vegan dishes in addition to their traditional menu each month through May.

The expansion is part of a vegan pilot the district launched this fall, in which seven high schools served vegan items during lunch.

Unlike the initial pilot, the additional schools will also include elementary and middle schools.
