The bar serves as a food pantry for food-insecure students.
October 24, 2018
Students at Lamar Academy in McAllen, Texas, can grab a free meal or snack at the school’s new food pantry, The Monitor reports.
Named the Energy Bar, the idea for the space came from two students who wanted to help food-insecure students while reducing food waste.
The Energy Bar is supplied by unopened food items donated by students during lunch along with other items donated from home. Students are able to access the Energy Bar by asking teachers or other faculty and can enjoy their meals either at school or at home.
