Fla. health system expands home meal-delivery program

The four-week program delivers “cook and chill” meals to discharged patients at risk of becoming malnourished.

Lee Memorial Health System is expanding a meal delivery program for discharged patients at risk of becoming malnourished, reports the Naples Daily News.

The four-week program, which delivers cook-chill meals to patients’ homes—rolled out at the system’s Cape Coral Hospital last year and is now giving it a try at Gulf Coast Medical Center.

If the program proves beneficial to patients and reduces readmissions, it’ll expand to eligible patients discharged from all of the system’s hospitals, officials told the website.
