Eat’n Park Chefs Pitch In for Rachel Carson Sustainable Feast

May 29—Eat’n Park Hospitality Group chefs joined other Pittsburgh area chefs to prepare food for the 3rd annual Rachel’s Sustainable Feast at the Rachel Carson Homestead in Springdale, Pa. Parkhurst Dining Services and Cura Hospitality are both members of the Eat’n Park Hospitality Group The event was held to commemorate writer Rachel Carson’s birthday, which was May 27. Carson’s was also an ecologist who advocated environmental responsibility.
Eat’n Park also organized AgRecycle’s participation to compost the entire event, which included composting plates, flatware, napkins and cups.

The menu included foods prepared with local ingredients from around the region. Some of Eat’n Park’s participating chefs were: Paul Bates, executive chef for Cura Hospitality at Longwood at Oakmont; Terry Geracia, executive chef for Parkhurst Dining Services at Medrad Inc. and Rick Carrillo, executive sous chef, also for Parkhurst, at Ericsson.
