Milton-Freewater Unified School District in Milton-Freewater, Ore., is giving its summer meal bus a face-lift with a $17,000 state grant, The Union-Bulletin reports.
The bus, nicknamed Bertha, will get new equipment and a paint job featuring the district’s colors. In addition, it will gain a side serving window with an awning to protect customers from sun and rain.
The vehicle is going into its fourth year of transporting summer meals to kids. Staff say that they serve around 150 lunches each week during the summer.
