District's gift card contest encourages families to fill out meal applications

Rivercrest Independent School District in Bogata, Texas, is holding a gift card drawing for families who fill out a school meal application, The Paris News reports. 

All families who complete the application will be entered to win a $100 Walmart gift card, even if they don’t qualify for free or reduced-price meals.

The district has been close to qualifying for the community eligibility provision (CEP) in recent years. School nutrition officials hope that the drawing will encourage more families to fill out an application and allow the district to qualify for the CEP next year.
