District hosts international cuisine month

Seabrook school district in Seabrook, N.H., hosted an international cuisine month for its elementary and middle school students, Seacoastonline.com reports.

Every Thursday throughout the month, students were able to try a different global dish such as bangers and mash (British Isles), potato leek cream soup (Wales) and braised lamb with couscous (Morocco). The school called on parent volunteers as well as cafeteria staff to prepare the Meals From Around the World, and promoted the specials on the school lunch menu.

Chef Kimberly Adkins said the goal of the program was to expose students to new foods and various cultures.

The district was able to cover the costs of the program with a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
