Local police officers and firefighters were on hand to serve Christmas lunch to students.

An attempt to connect students with local authorities helped Milford School District in Milford, Del., serve a free Christmas lunch without changing its work schedules, Milford Live reports.
Local policemen, firemen and legislators greeted students and helped serve the mid-December meal of turkey with trimmings at the district’s six schools. Sara Croce, the district’s chief financial officer, told Milford Live that the lunch allows students to connect with their community while providing extra help to the staff.
