In an effort to encourage students to make healthy choices and try new foods, Father Gorman Community School has rolled out its Build A Lunch program, reports meridianbooster.com.
The twice-monthly program is offered to all third- through fifth-grade students, and allows them to prepare their lunches for the next school day using several food group stations featuring items such as fruits, vegetables, whole-wheat wraps and bagels, and juice.
“There are many advantages of having a healthy nutritious lunch,” Charmaine Roberts, the school’s youth and family programmer, told the website. “It contributes to students learning, increases energy and productivity, and makes for happier minds at school and at home.”
