ANFP names new officers

The newly seated directors and certifying-board members will serve into 2016.

The Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals has named its new 2015-2016 board of directors and Certifying Board for Dietary Managers. The newly seated officials are:

Chair of the board: Debbie McDonald, CDM, program administrator of food service at North Texas State Hospital, previously served as ANFP’s chair elect and as the chair of the Certifying Board for Dietary Managers.

Chair elect: Janice M. Hemel, CDM, is a certified dietary manager/foodservice supervisor at Lane County Hospital and Long Term Care in Dighton, Kan. Hemel previously served on the ANFP board as treasurer.

Treasurer: Ken Hanson, CDM, is a jail services supervisor at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in Ankeny, Iowa. Hanson previously served as an ANFP treasurer-elect and director at large.

Immediate past chair: Kathryn Massey, CDM, served as ANFP chair in 2014-2015 and works at Floyd Valley Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, as a certified dietary manager.

Treasurer elect: Sharon Vermeer, CDM, is the food services manager for Orange City Area Health System in Maurice, Iowa, and brings over 19 years of foodservice experience to her new role.

Four new directors at large were also appointed: Cindy Cothern, CDM, dietary manager at Montgomery Place in Mound Valley, KS; Gary Blake is owner and founder of creative solutions at Healthcare, Inc. in Fort Worth, Texas; Carl Mudder is the vice president of sales and marketing for Aladdin Temp-Rite in Hendersonville, Tenn.; and John Hickson, CDM, is an independent food safety auditor at Verify International.

Larry J. Jackson, CDM; Richard “Nick” Nickless, CDM; Richard D. Hoelzel, CDM; Amy Lewis, MBA (corporate partner category); Sherri Williams, CDM; and Jeff Patton (industry) are all continuing their terms as ANFP directors at large.

The Certifying Board for Dietary Managers, which is responsible for ANFP’s certification program, also has two new members: Nicole L. Clapp, RN, CEO of Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster, Wis.; and Timothy Bauman, CDM, president of BBSLLC in Sylvania, Ohio.

Continuing their service on the Certifying Board are Barbara Thomsen, CDM; Yvonne Foyt, CDM; Kristen Klinefelter, RD; Theresa Fightmaster, MS; and CarieAnn Williams, CDM (chair).
