Aladdin Campus Dining celebrates Black History Month with station takeover event

Aladdin Campus Dining celebrated Black History Month by hosting two “Dinner Station Takeover” events at Ferrum College in Ferrum, Va.

The events featured two student dining employees, who prepared different dishes from their family heritage.

During the first takeover, student chef Midoven “ML” Lormejuste prepared Haitian foods using recipes handed down by his grandmother. Students got to enjoy sos pwa nwa (bean sauce), legume (beef and vegetable stew), rice, sweet plantains and plantain chips.

The second student chef, Tynair Anderson, prepared pit beef sandwiches, crab fries, Maryland crab soup and Eastern Shore corn.

“This is more than just Black History Month foods, but a blend of cultures recognizing our students’ family heritage and the foods they grew up with," Levi Briggs, Aladdin Campus Dining food service director, said in a statement. "It’s awesome to see the student interaction and appreciation of what our students can share with our team."
